Easy Orange Recipes | olivemagazine

Why we love oranges

Oranges’ sweetness lends a zesty note to dressings, smoothies and even soups. You can use the peel to infuse oils, alcohol and sugar. Or add fresh segments to salads and rich desserts.

When buying oranges, make sure the skin feels oily – a fingernail dragged along the skin should burst the surface, releasing an orange zest aroma.

Health benefits of orange

All citrus fruits, especially oranges, are high in protective antioxidants, including vitamin C. This means they may help the body to fight off diseases. They also contain citric acid, which can help to prevent kidney stones. The combination of this with vitamin C is beneficial to our iron intake, as long as you consume them with iron-rich foods.
